Biography:

Sylvia Villaraza Morales is the Unit-Based Neonatal Intensive Care Educator at Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital, a role she has held since 2018, focusing on supporting and advancing the professional development of neonatal nurses. With over 30 years of Level IV NICU experience, she possesses extensive expertise in the care and management of newborns on nasal CPAP and has dedicated her career to caring for high-risk neonates, premature infants, and babies with complex medical needs.

Certified in Neonatal Nursing and serving as an NRP instructor, Sylvia is committed to fostering clinical excellence, improving patient outcomes, and mentoring the next generation of NICU professionals through education, hands-on training, and evidence-based best practices.

Research Interest:

Sylvia Villaraza Morales’s research interests focus on neonatal intensive care practices, with a particular emphasis on the management of high-risk and premature infants and the optimization of nasal CPAP therapy. She is passionate about developing and evaluating evidence-based protocols that enhance respiratory support, promote neurodevelopment, and reduce complications in critically ill newborns. Her professional work also extends to nursing education and clinical competency development, exploring innovative teaching strategies that improve skills, confidence, and patient outcomes among NICU nurses. Additionally, she is interested in advancing simulation-based training, family-centered care approaches, and interdisciplinary collaboration to improve the overall quality of neonatal care.
